About the Other Night…

I am so looking forward to what 2016 has to bring. I have a lot of goals this year: to be a better financial steward, to have optimum health, to dig deeper into my work, to pursue some of my artistic goals — and of course to SLAY…more! I had to think long and hard about my intentions for this blog in the new year, because, even though I don’t post daily, staying current in the ever growing game of blogging is a JOB! When you add social media relevance to the mix it gets even more hectic. I started blogging because I love to play dress up and take pictures, not because I’m vain, but quite the opposite, I feel empowered when I am wearing clothes that speak to the me that hides on the inside. I don’t live a life where I feel ‘pretty’ or ‘special’ on a regular basis and that’s mostly because I let those titles or feelings be dictated by outsiders. This blog is a way for me to take the power back to define pretty and special for myself. I often think that I want to have a full time job in fashion where I think about style and clothes and shopping all day – but I don’t. This is sufficient. Maybe down the road some other avenues will open up and I will feel differently. I love my work. I love doing work that helps move the arc of the moral universe toward justice (shout out to Dr. King – Happy Birthday), but I will always have a spot in my heart for the sartorial side of things.

Ok, now that I got that out, lemme share these flicks with you. I snapped them right before New Year’s Eve on my way out. My homeboy and photographer did them some justice by adding the Black and White and filtering. I LOVE the results – just like I LOVE my new faux fur from H&M. It was sold out every where so I gave up on getting one and then VOILA – I walk into the H&M in Chelsea and it was sitting right there waiting for me.  I almost never, scratch that I *never* wear skirts this short but this fringe number was adorable and it covered all of the places I need covered AND it looked too fly with my over the knee, stiletto boots. Let’s dig into these few flicks…lemme know what you think!

What a great post! I feel the same way about my clothes and what I wear – it is my answer to the world that says women of a certain hue, size, hair texture, height etc are not worthy. Good to see you!
